FAQ

Do I need a username and password to rent equipment?

No.  All required information will be asked during the checkout process.  The username and password is for admin use only.

I just placed an order and received a paypal confirmation email, why?

We use paypal as our merchant to process credit card transactions.

Do I need to leave a deposit?

YES. For items that are shipped through our site we are now requiring a deposit equal to our Replacement Cost, listed on the site.  This change in policy is necessary to ensure the safe return of our equipment so other renters can enjoy the value of our service in the future.  For local renters we are not requiring a deposit at this time.

When does my rental period begin? End?

Rental period begins on the date that USPS shows delivery. The rental period ends 7, 14, 21, or 28 days once USPS confirms delivery of the equipment.


What condition is the equipment in?

All equipment is in perfect working condition. As they are rented, scratches and cosmetic blemishes are inevitable. We absolutely guarantee that everything will be clean and image quality and mechanical function will be perfect.

How can I be notified when an item comes back in stock?

Once an item comes back into stock, we will display its availability on the inventory pages. When items are out of stock, you can click on Contact Us and send an email to notifyme@rentphotostuff.com
Please include the item in which you would like to be notified about in the subject field. Your best bet is to check the website frequently.


What about damage and late returns?

Shipments are automatically insured for loss and damage during transit. When the item is in your possession, you accept responsibility for all damage and loss. A reimbursement list can be found in the replacement costs
section of the renters agreement.

Late returns will carry a late charge. Details of our late charges can be seen here
as well as in the renters agreement . If you suspect that a return will be late, it is best to notify us as soon as possible to make arrangements at late@rentphotostuff.com.

Can I schedule a rental for a future date?

We have no official reservations yet, but if you email or call, sometimes we can make arrangements based on inventory on hand.

What comes with the items?

Each item has its own accessories that are listed in the product description. Typically these accessories are a lens hood, lens bag, batteries, etc. All flash units come w/ brand new batteries!


SHIPPING

When will the order ship?

Orders received before 12 noon will be shipped the same day, orders taken after 12 noon will ship early the next day. Please plan for an extra day in case of unforeseen delays.

Which shipping company do you use and why?

We use USPS. USPS offers the lowest rates for nationwide shipping as well as 6 days a week service.


Can I return equipment with my own shipping company?

You may use a different company to return a rental, but your shipment must be insured for the value of each item, and the package must have tracking available.  You MUST also provide us with the tracking information on the package prior to shipping the package.  If your package is lost, stolen, or damaged, you will be held responsible for the full value of each item.

Do you ship internationally?

Currently we do not. Renters from Hawaii and Alaska should contact us before placing an order. Email us at Service@rentphotostuff.com.

Do you offer pickup/returns in person?

Yes, we do! If you live in Chittenden County Vermont, we can make something work. Email us at Sales@rentphotostuff.com.


RETURNS

What do I need to do to return the equipment?

Everything you need is already in the box. Included will be the equipment, accessories, a receipt, return shipping label and a piece of brown paper. What is this brown paper for? We are an environmentally conscious company. The brown paper is to be used to wrap the box like a present once it is packed for shipping. This allows us to conserve our boxes. Shipping tape and labels render the boxes useless after 1 round trip. The brown paper is far less material to waste than if we needed to replace the boxes after each shipment. Please help with this and use the paper wrapping.

Do I need any packaging material to send it back?

No. Everything is included, but if you do loose or throw away the bubble wrap, please make sure the equipment is secure before shipping. All post offices have shipping supplies for sale.

Please refer to the section of the Renters Agreement regarding negligent shipping.
Should I clean anything before returning?

DO NOT attempt to clean. It is very easy to damage equipment attempting to clean it. We appreciate the effort, but we do have proper cleaning methods to ensure everything stays in top condition.

Is there insurance on my return package?

Yes there is as long as you use the prepaid shipping label that is included in the package. If for some reason you decide to use a different shipping company, you must insure the package for the full retail value.

MISC.

What is normal wear that I will not be responsible for repairing?

Scuffs, scratches or chips that do not affect image quality or mechanical operation. For lenses, very light marks to the front element falls under normal use, but large marks on the front element or ANY mark on the rear element will effect image quality in which a repair/replace will be needed.

Can I read the renters agreement?

Of course you can.
